Startup Ecosystem News: WaveX Is Building the Next Generation of India’s AVGC-XR Startups
India’s AVGC-XR startup ecosystem is receiving a major push with the launch of the Media Tech Startup Incubator by WaveX and the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting. Designed specifically for AVGC-XR startups, the initiative reflects a growing focus on supporting innovation across animation, VFX, gaming, comics, XR, immersive media, and digital storytelling technologies.

From WaveX’s perspective, the incubator is about creating a strong foundation for India’s next generation of creative technology entrepreneurs. The programme goes beyond traditional startup support by combining mentorship, infrastructure access, business development guidance, sandbox testing, and real-world validation opportunities through government media units.
One of the biggest advantages for startups is the opportunity to test and refine products in practical production environments rather than only operating within experimental or academic spaces. The incubator also plans to provide global showcasing opportunities, helping early-stage Indian startups gain industry visibility and international exposure.
The first batch is expected to support 15 startups, focusing on emerging areas such as immersive storytelling, AI-powered media tools, gaming technologies, virtual production, and XR experiences. For WaveX, the initiative represents a larger mission — helping India move from a service-driven industry to a creator-led innovation ecosystem powered by original ideas, scalable technology, and globally competitive creative ventures.
As India’s AVGC-XR sector continues expanding, incubators like WaveX could become critical in shaping the country’s future startup and creator economy.
